Program price includes admission to the Museum so that students and teachers may enjoy the various galleries before or after the program.

Cost: $160 per school group (up to 20) – *HST in not included. Prices are in CDN funds and are subject to change.

Additional students: $8.00 each

Adult supervisors: free at a ratio of 1:5

SALTY SEA SCIENCE

Water is essential for life, yet this amazing commodity is misunderstood, abused and in danger of running dry. This kitchen sink science program leads students through a series of entertaining and enlightening experiments that illustrate the unique nature of water and instill a special appreciation of this magical compound.

PIRATES AND PRIVATEERS

Follow the change from privateers to pirates as war time raiders became outright thieves. This enjoyable program deals with tactics, weapons, lifestyle and the consequences for pirates who were caught.

CAPTAIN COOK AND THE AGE OF DISCOVERY

James Cook ranks among the world’s greatest explorers and mapmakers. The history of long distance travel by sea, the science of navigation and the clashes between cultures are all discussed in this balanced program.

HUDSON’S BAY COMPANY AND THE FUR TRADE 

This program explores the business of Canada’s oldest company and its powerful effects, both on First Nations and on the development of Canada itself.

GHOSTS AT THE MARITIME MUSEUM

This enlightening journey traces the development of Victoria, Bastion Square and the old courthouse. In Bastion Square and the galleries of the Maritime Museum, hear the stories which have let many to believe the building is haunted. This program is available only in October.

MUSEUM GALLERY TOURS

Maritime History 
These tours feature aspects of British Columbia’s rich maritime heritage, both naval and commercial, from the age of the Great Voyages of Exploration to modern times. Enjoy seeing the Museum’s outstanding collection of shop models.
