Life and Work Aboard Ship

Ship Middy

Learn about shipboard life on the long and arduous voyages to Victoria’s harbour in the late 19th century. What were sailors expected to do? What tools did they use? How did they live? What did they eat? What did they do for fun?

Three Tales of Women at Sea

Sail back in time and learn about women whose lives were changed by their journeys at sea. Learn what life aboard ship was like for women, the role they played in exploration, immigration and at times of war.

Immigration on the BC Coast

Through the exploration of key events on the coast over the past two centuries, examine the factors which drew immigrants to British Columbia, and the social, economic and political challenges they have faced in Canada.

SALTY SEA SCIENCE

Water is essential for life, yet this amazing commodity is misunderstood, abused and in danger of running dry. This kitchen sink science program leads students through a series of entertaining and enlightening experiments that illustrate the unique nature of water and instill a special appreciation of this magical compound.
