SUMMARY:Sea Song Showdown Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Maritime Museum of BC is launching a brand new fundraiser for the next three weeks\, in support of programs for all ages: the Sea Song Showdown! Help the Museum raise $10\,000 by June 24 while immersing yourself in maritime music!  \n\n\n\nThere are two components to this fundraiser: donating to support vital year-round programs for Victoria communities; and spreading the word with maritime music.   \n\n\n\nSong Ambassadors recorded videos representing eight favourite and classic sea songs and sea shanties\, which will be pitted against one another each week of the campaign. Until June 24 the public are invited to vote on weekly match-ups to help the Museum declare a 2024 Champion Song!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow can you support this fundraiser?\n\n\n\nDonate to the Maritime Museum of BC in support of their programs: to help share maritime experiences with communities in Victoria\, and give staff the resources to continue their impactful work.  \n\n\n\nVote for a sea song and\, if you like\, share why you love it and what we’re doing here this summer at the Maritime Museum of BC! Voting is free and you can listen to all the songs on our blog [link] while discovering some of their context and meaning.  \n\n\n\n\nDonate!\n\n\n\nVote for Songs

SUMMARY:Maritime Masterclasses: The Weird\, the Wacky\, the Wonderful: Family Intertidal Exploration
DESCRIPTION:Who breathes out of their butt? Who has “eyes” on the end of their arms? Learn all this and more during our family marine intertidal exploration! \n\n\n\nJoin environmental educator Stephanie Chong as we get an up-close look at our marine neighbours. Consider the complex balance between non-living and living (including humans!) in healthy ecosystems and discuss how we\, as a community\, can make positive and impactful choices in our everyday lives.  \n\n\n\nRegistration is required. This is an outdoor program. \n\n\n\nInstructor: Stephanie Chong \n\n\n\nFor over 15 years\, environmental educator Stephanie Chong (she/her) has coordinated learning and education opportunities at museums and science centres in Canada and the United States. She believes strongly in encouraging curiosity\, a joy of being outdoors\, and a communal understanding of environmental responsibility with everyone she works with. In her spare time\, you’ll likely find her wandering around the intertidal zone looking for wiggly creatures. Stephanie is originally from the traditional territories of the Musqueam\, Squamish\, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (“Vancouver”) and has been fortunate to call the traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples her home for the past two years. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister HEre!
