How well do you know your neighbourhood? Your neighbours?
Join environmental educator and marine biologist Stephanie Chong as you learn how Victoria’s strong connection to the water gives it unique histories, cultures, and ecosystems that defines its past, current, and future resilience.
Then get an up-close look at some of the creatures that call the intertidal zone their home, discuss how we are connected to the natural world, and re-consider how we interact with the outdoors. Leave feeling empowered with new knowledge about your marine neighbours and how to be a better neighbour yourself.
This experience includes admission into the Maritime Museum of BC.
Instructor: Stephanie Chong
For over 15 years, environmental and land-based educator Stephanie (she/her) has been inspiring minds of all ages to engage their curiosity, exploring their own backyards in a more meaningful way. She has coordinated learning and education opportunities at museums and science centres in Victoria, Vancouver, and the United States. She believes strongly in encouraging curiosity, a joy of being outdoors, and a communal understanding of environmental responsibility with everyone she works with. In her spare time, you’ll likely find her wandering around the intertidal zone looking for wiggly creatures.
