Oral History in British Columbia

Recorded oral history in British Columbia starts with CBC radio producer Imbert Orchard.  From 1959 to 1966, Orchard travelled the province and recorded 998 First Generation and First Nations people and created one of the largest oral history collections in the world.  In 2000, the CBC entrusted the digitization of the collection to Robert “Lucky” Budd.  Budd will share his story, stories from the collection, and share details on his books Voices and Echoes Of British Columbia.  He will then discuss his storytelling work with First Nations artist and master storyteller Roy Henry Vickers.  It will be a great evening of storytelling and learning.

This Live event will occur simultaneously in-person and via Zoom. As the in-person portion is an indoor event, as of September 13th the provincial government has mandated that the Maritime Museum of BC will require proof of vaccination.

By September 13, you must be partially vaccinated.
You’re partially vaccinated with 1 dose.

By October 24, you must be fully vaccinated.
You’re fully vaccinated 7 days after dose 2.

We ask those unable to provide this information to join us on Zoom.
