Rebecca Garnham
I joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves in November 2009, and completed my basic training in the summer of 2010. Since completing my trades training as a MARS (Maritime Surface and Sub-Surface Officer) in 2012, I served onboard HMCS GLACE BAY for 2 years, and am now posted as the Training Officer at HMCS TECUMSEH in Calgary, AB. I have deployed on various operations, such as OPERATION CARIBBE (anti-drug trafficking operation in Gulf of Mexico/Caribbean Sea) and a Great Lakes Deployment. In April 2016 I had the pleasure of going on a mine-countermeasures exercise in Bahrain. I enjoy speaking about the military and it’s contributions to Canada. Many members of my family have served in the military (my Dad served in the British Army for 22 years, and now is a Canadian Army Reservist, plus my great-uncles served in both world wars for England) and so I am fiercely proud of our veterans and their sacrifices.
