The Maritime Museum of BC has gone virtual with many of our public programs! For our Tea & Talks, museum volunteers, archival staff, and educators present unique artifacts from our collection, surrounded by discussions of maritime history and other seaworthy topics – all over a cup of tea and refreshments. With our virtual shift, we’re still providing the talk, but the tea and refreshments will be from the comfort of your own home
Join us for a program LIVE using Zoom Meetings, where they have the chance to interact with volunteer speakers. After purchasing a Live program, you will receive a link to register for the Zoom Meeting. Tickets can be purchased at our Online Store.
THIS WEEK’S TALK POSTPONED: Fast Boats From China: The gift of dragonboating and festivals to Vancouver Island and BC (with Adrian Lee)
Join Adrian Lee, IB, BASc, MBA on Thursday July 16th @ 2:30, the inventor of the dragonboat racing paddle and the founder of Dragon Boat Canada, as he zooms his way with you across 2000 years of dragonboat festival lore, world championships energy and festival frenzy to the XV Commonwealth Games dragons den when he infected the Inner Harbour and Fisgard Street (Chinatown) with the world’s oldest newest water sport and was interviewed by the BBC. In Vancouver he convened the first world championship for club crew paddlers and he shared this False Creek story with CBC television and CNN.
