Artist Graham Scholes in the gallery of the Maritime Museum of BC with his lighthouse series of woodblock prints

About

A selection of lighthouse prints from artist Graham Scholes.

Visiting the lighthouses on the British Columbia coast with the co-operation of the Canadian Coast Guard, he gathered information and imagery for the innovative prints of the lighthouses. He recognized that the lighthouse structures belong to history, and the landscape and settings around the lights belong to his creative expression. The editions of only 75 prints the lighthouse series overtook his life. He claims that he spent 8 days a week, 8 hours a day, 8 years, to complete, design and print the 37 lighthouses.
