Classic Boat Festival:

Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Classic Boat Festival!

Volunteer Intake Form is now closed!  Please contact Rhian McKee at vcbfestival@gmail.com if you would still like to volunteer.

The Maritime Museum of BC would not be able to operate the Festival without the dedicated support of our amazing volunteers. Thank you!

We are using a new volunteer system this year, so your patience is appreciated as we work out the knots!

Hours of Operation:
Friday: 9:00 am -8:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Volunteers will start at 8am each day to help set up. We would like to remind you that shifts are 4 hours long and do require standing and walking around on concrete for that length of time. We would greatly appreciate your help in keeping the festival open later this year, please consider evening shifts if you are able.

Volunteer Position Descriptions
Docks:
This position involves walking the docks and being an ambassador of the festival.
In our bright yellow shirts, we are very visible to the public and to the boaters. We are asked questions, help people to find particular boats and provide over all safety and security on the docks. This position also works ice sales, and first thing in the morning, and mid afternoon, we send one or two volunteers around and ask the boaters if they need ice. This position is 4 hours long, and works between the main floats in front of the Empress, and the Ship Point docks.

Admissions / Greeter:
Welcoming people down to the festival is such an important part! This includes collecting their donated admission fee and handing out a program and sticker. Last year we had over $20 000.00 in donations from just the docks alone! Those admission buckets were overflowing, and volunteers have a big part in that!
This role takes place at the top of the dock at the Empress floats, and also at Ship Point where the Marketplace is.

**NEW**  Thursday Set Up:
These volunteers will help set up the tents, docks and assist museum staff bringing the items down to the docks. This is the day before the festival starts, when the boats all start arriving.

**NEW** Sunday Security:
6-8 persons required to monitor both docks once the boaters have left for the closing dinner. This shift will be a late shift from 530pm-930pm. This is to ensure the vessels are safe, and the public hasn’t gained access while the boaters are away.

Please note: This is the application form only. Once your application is processed you will be invited to sign up for the volunteer shifts.
Thank you from the Classic Boat Festival Team and the Maritime Museum of British Columbia!
