Tumbleweed (formerly Silhouette)

Skipper/Captain: Bill Moe

Class: Sail

This boat was built in Vancouver by the head shipwright from Belair shipyard, I believe North Vancouver end of 2nd Narrows in 1946. The boat sailed from Vancouver through the Panama canal and up to the east coast, and was trucked back from Thunder Bay in 1987. After returning, the boat was stripped to a bare hull and completely rebuilt by Cove Yachts in 1988/89. All massive floor grade ply decks and a new interior were installed. The boat is 38ft LOA and 34 LOD with a 3cyl fwc Yanmar diesel engine

I built 2 new masts made of epoxy laminated red cedar in 2010 with an extensive clean up and rebuilt the hydraulic pilot in 2019.

The hull is 1.5 red cedar hull andoak frames. It is an all round a real beauty with a good turn of speed. It is a boat worth taking note of and is part of BC history.
