Victoria, BC V8W 3M6
The Maritime Museum of BC acknowledges the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Le-KWUNG-en) speaking peoples, represented by the Songhees and Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ (wh – say – nech) Nations on whose traditional territories the Museum buildings and collections rest. While we reside on Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territory, we acknowledge that the Maritime Museum of BC’s area of focus covers all areas of British Columbia, which includes many Nations and their maritime histories and active cultures that have existed since time immemorial. The Maritime Museum of BC is committed to working with Indigenous peoples to educate ourselves and the public so we can collectively share these experiences and move forward together harmoniously, respectfully, and collaboratively.
It is currently located downtown at 744 Douglas Street close to Victoria’s downtown Inner Harbour and the Empress Hotel. Here, you will find exhibits, a nautical-themed gift shop, and research space.
Parking
The closest city parkade is under the Central Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library on Broughton Street. There is also street parking nearby. More parking spaces are indicated on the City of Victoria website.

Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect on your visit.
Guests typically take 30-60 minutes to walk through and engage with our exhibits.
Our current space at 744 Douglas St. is a smaller temporary location, consisting of two rooms, while we search for a larger and more permanent space to house our vast collection. Despite its size, our space offers an intimate and inviting experience for you to discover the joy of BC’s maritime heritage without feeling overwhelmed.
Our exhibit space is accessible for standard and motorized wheelchairs. We have a gender inclusive, single stall washroom available that has a baby change table. While this should be large enough for a standard wheelchair to fit in, a motorized wheelchair will not. We apologize for this inconvenience and are seeking a larger public space where we will have fully accessible washrooms.
Yes, we do! A Social Story is a social narrative for sensory and learning needs. It lets you know what to expect during your visit.
You can download a PDF of our Social Story here.

Yes! We offer children’s activity books tailored to our current rotating exhibit. You will also find a variety of children’s books for reading, a fun colouring station, and a clean and convenient changing station in our guest washroom. We are also nursing-friendly; however, we do not currently have a designated private nursing space.
While we don’t offer food or beverages for sale, you’re more than welcome to bring along non-messy snacks.
